With fresh snow blanketing the mountain, it’s time to plan your 2021 Tahoe Ski Trip! Get the most out of your winter vacay by pre-purchasing lift tickets and rental gear, booking midweek lodging specials and staying on top of the weather by downloading Resort apps. We’ve got the tips you need for planning an epic Tahoe Ski Trip.
Alpine Lodging Specials
Consider the size of your travel party, budget and the area you want to stay in when booking lodging. Choose from ski leases and rentals from the West Shore to Tahoe Donner, and take advantage of specials when you stay 3 nights or more! Ski leases and rentals are great for booking short-term stays in homes, condos and cabins and for families and couples looking for pet-friendly options. Easily select your location and the amenities you can’t live without like fireplaces, hot tubs and lakeside views. Unlike hotel rooms, you can get a full kitchen with a ski lease saving you money on meals, and you get the privacy and space you’re looking for after a day navigating the slopes.
Lift Tickets & Parking
Pre-purchase tickets ahead of time to save big, especially on midweek deals! Keep ticket prices down with a midweek 4 pack at Squaw Alpine or Northstar. Walk-up tickets aren’t available so book early to ensure availability. Download Resort apps to stay on top of weather conditions and to check which lifts and runs will be operating. Enable push notifications to get parking updates as lots fill up fast. Book parking in advance and keep an eye out for free shuttles from the base areas at the resorts.
Rental Gear & Lessons
Rent skis and snowboards online to avoid cramming your car full of gear and get the added benefit of leaving gear at the rental shop instead of lugging it back to your lodging. Pack plenty of base and mid layers to stay warm on the mountain, including moisture wicking ski socks, gloves, goggles, waterproof jacket and pants and a beanie. Bring clothes for off the mountain activities too, and don’t forget your face mask! It’s covid safe and will keep you warm when paired with a gaiter. Face masks are required on shuttles and when waiting in lines, so make sure to bring yours. Nail the right technique with a lesson and get the added benefit of cutting in line! Learn how to stop and turn, load and unload the lifts, operate your gear and get tips from your instructor on the best terrain.
On-and-Off Mountain Experiences
Head straight from the slopes to your favorite restaurants and bars for apres-ski! Restaurants may have limited indoor capacity, but they have plenty of outdoor seating with heat lamps. Make a reservation ahead of time to ensure a spot or order curbside pickup and eat it back at your rental. Tahoe is brimming with fun winter activities! After a few days riding and skiing the mountain, let the kids giggle their way down the hill at Tahoe Donner Snowplay or take them ice skating (reservations required)! Explore Tahoe’s backcountry on a snowmobile or snowshoe tour or try snowkiting for the first time. Let Tahoe Vacation Rentals help you plan your ideal 2021 Tahoe Ski Trip!
