Lake Tahoe Cross-Country Skiing
There’s more to Tahoe winters than just downhill skiing. Tahoe is home to miles of cross-country skiing trails. Cross-country skiing is a great form of exercise and you can work up a sweat under the winter sun. Break your own trail in the forest or head to one of Tahoe’s designated cross-country centers with miles of groomed trails for your skate-skiing delight.
Tahoe XC Center
Located above Tahoe City, the Tahoe XC Center boasts a 65 km trail system with impressive lake views. There are options for all abilities, and the 21 trails are machine groomed daily. You’ll find three trailside warming huts throughout the center, and 8km of trails are dog-friendly. Lessons are also available.
Tahoe Donner Cross-Country
Voted one of the top three cross country resorts in the country, Tahoe Donner Cross-Country takes skiers high above Truckee, to give stunning views of the mountains of the Sierra Crest. This center has 58 trails across 100k, with 3k of dog-friendly trails, and even some some trails open for fat biking.
Royal Gorge Cross-Country Ski Resort
Located just west of Truckee, Royal Gorge Cross-Country Ski Resort is North America’s largest cross-country skiing resort. Royal Gorge has eight separate trail systems and nine warming huts across 6,000 acres of terrain.
