Plan the Perfect Romantic Weekend in Tahoe
Cozy, cuddling season is back!
With the temperatures dropping, you’re dusting off those sweaters, beanies, and gloves to layer up. The air is crisp, and the leaves are ablaze. Build a fire in the evening and bundle up. It’s a perfect time to schedule a romantic Tahoe getaway. Set your out-of-office message, unplug, and unwind in the Sierras with your sweetie.
Here are our top tips and things to do for your romantic weekend away in Tahoe:
Fill Up Your Cup
Whether you’re staying in a home on the West Shore of Tahoe, or at one of our many Squaw and Alpine properties, experience the beauty of Lake Tahoe’s glassy mornings, and rise with the birds. Head into Tahoe City for a world-renowned Swiss coffee at Tahoe House, and definitely don’t pass up any of their pastries. Walk along the bike path to the ‘miracle mile’ Lakeshore Trail which is actually a waterfront promenade along Commons Beach. Skip some rocks and savor the sunrise.
Adventure Together
Conquering fears and challenges together is a bonding experience like no other! If you have time for this six-hour roundtrip hike, then embark on arguably the most beautiful hike and vista reward in the region: Mount Tallac. This ‘bucket list’ five-mile climb affords the most stunning 360-view of the region, as Mount Tallac sits on the edge of Desolation Wilderness at almost 10,000 elevation. If you’re looking for an easier hike, check out the Eagle Falls Trailhead, with waterfalls to admire along the way, and Eagle Lake as a place to picnic.
Candlelit Dinner for Two
When you imagine a romantic dinner for two, does Italian food come to mind? Good, because we have just the place. Pianeta Ristorante, located in Historic Downtown Truckee, has remained one of the area’s popular authentic ‘cucina Italiana’ with its warm ambiance, and housemade sausages and pastas rolled on-site daily (try the housemade tagliatelle!). Their espresso soaked ladyfinger tiramisu and lemon panna cotta are just short of divine. End the evening with a stroll down Commercial Row, and stop in at Moody's Bistro, Bar, and Beats for live music or a nightcap in the lounge.
Fall Bonus Tip: Tahoe Leaf Peeping
In addition, don’t miss leaf peeping along the Truckee River in Historic Downtown Truckee, along Highway 267 heading north between Northstar Resort and Kings Beach (stop and take photos at the old cabin), and especially at Alpine Meadows Resort.
