Squaw Valley
Filled with quaint shops and rich Olympian history, this European-inspired village is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the fresh mountain air. For adventurers looking to connect with nature, hit one of the many pet and bike-friendly trails. If that’s not your jam, enjoy relaxing in the serene atmosphere and treat yourself to a plethora of salon menus and relaxation activities. Take a yoga class at Wanderlust Studio. Rent bikes and ride through Squaw Valley. Enjoy a round of 18-holes at the Resort at Squaw Creek golf course. Top all of this off with some pretty spectacular dining and nightlife, and you’ve got yourself a vacation!
Alpine Meadows
Move a valley over to a quieter, more relaxing escape. Five Lakes Trail is a must for every adventurer. Though the winter offers 2,400 acres of skiable terrain, the summer offers camping, hikes, and unparalleled views in the mostly untouched landscape. Alpine Meadows is the local's local spot; enjoy a more laid-back vibe here.
West Shore
Experience the slow of life on the lake, and be sure to check out the West Shore at Lake Tahoe. Don't miss happy hour on the Sunnyside Deck -- it's worth the wait, the view, and the delicious fried zucchini. Ride your bikes down the West Shore and visit historic Sugar Pine Point State Park. As you weave through the small towns and notice roadside markets and stunning views of the lake, you’ll truly feel as if you’re on vacation.
Truckee
In a small logging town popular for rafting and kayaking, you’ll also find a charming historic downtown filled with breweries, wineries, outstanding food and culture.
